Syracuse University Army ROTC Cadet and U.S. Army veteran Pei Ren was born in New York City and grew up in Macon, Georgia. Cadet Ren enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 2015 and served on active duty from 2016 to 2019 as a 35N (November), Signal Intelligence Analyst.

Her first duty assigned was with the 116th Military Intelligence Brigade at Fort Gordon, Georgia. During her service, Cadet Ren provided intelligence and authored tactical and strategic signal intelligence reports in support of hundreds of missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. She also served as Collection Supervisor and Mission Manager. In 2019, Cadet Ren applied for and was awarded the Army Green to Gold scholarship and joined Syracuse University’s Stalwart Battalion as an Army ROTC cadet. She is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

While on active duty, CDT Ren achieved academic and professional excellence as an honor graduate from the Signal Intelligence Analysis and Reporting Course and Commandant’s List from Basic Leadership Course. Her awards include the Global War on Terror Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. 

Her proudest military moment was when Cadet Ren supported Combined, Joint, Conventional, and Special Operations Forces worldwide. Cadet Ren is majoring in Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Computer Science and is on course to graduate in 2024 and commission in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.
