Going abroad is one of the most memorable college experiences that a student can have and thanks to a generous gift from Daniel D’Aniello ’68, H’20 and his wife Gayle, veterans and military-connected students with demonstrated financial need and have an interest in learning about Italian history and culture can study in Florence without cost or use of their GI Bill benefits. Tuition, housing, and a stipend will be provided through the Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello Endowed Florence Scholarship.

Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello’s generous gift of $5,500,000 to establish the Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello Endowed Florence Scholarship was due to his passion for military connected students and the experience he himself had. He shared, “The Syracuse Abroad program is an essential element of the academic experience for so many students. My time abroad in Florence was some of the most memorable of my college career, and I am delighted to be able to support that experience for today’s students—especially students with need, veterans and others for whom a semester abroad seems out of reach,” says Daniel D’Aniello. “Gayle and I are so pleased to provide this support to the University and its faculty and students, who will gain illuminating global perspectives during their time in Italy and bring those insights to their professional lives.”
