LTC Robert T. Clemens ‘69

Lieutenant Colonel (R), Robert T. Clemens is currently a practicing partner in the law firm Bose, Mckinney & Evans in Indianapolis, Indiana. He joined the firm in April 1993 after eleven years of practicing law in Indiana. LTC (R) Clemens earned his law degree in 1982 from the University of Notre Dame.

LTC (R) Robert Clemens graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and was commissioned through Army ROTC in June of 1969. He had followed in his father’s footsteps as he had accomplished the same 19 years earlier. 2LT Clemens was initially assigned as an Infantry officer to the 82nd Airborne Division. From 1969-1973, He led platoons in the 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Airborne Division, and 4th Infantry Division; three in combat during the Vietnam War. He also served as a rifle company commander in the 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam. LTC(R) Robert Clemens continued to serve in a variety of military assignments including Battalion Adjutant, Brigade Plans Officer, and Company Commander of Company C, 4th Battalion, 20th Infantry in the Panama Canal Zone. LTC(R) Clemens was then assigned to the University of Notre Dame Army ROTC as an Assistant Professor of Military Science. LTC(R) Robert Clemens joined the U.S. Army Reserve until his subsequent retirement in 1993 after 24 years of military service. His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Bronze Star with “V” device & two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and various campaign and service medals.

LTC (R) Clemens is married to Dr. Carol Clemens. They have one daughter, Rebecca. They reside in Fishers, Indiana. Both are extremely active with their church activities, sponsoring foreign exchange students, and cheering on Notre Dame football.
