I’m Isaac Hernandez. I’m a U.S army veteran and I’m currently pursuing a graduate degree in information systems from the school of information studies here at Syracuse University. I think my biggest monumental achievement is completing my undergraduate degree because that was something I started in active duty. I started that in the barracks and to be able to come to Syracuse and now finish that goal has been one of my memorable moments. When I made the decision to get out of the military my mother-in-law mentioned how about the iSchool and so after doing some research I decided to apply here at Syracuse and I thought that the application process was pretty seamless. I think what’s unique about being part of the Syracuse University community are the resources that are available here. Things such as the National Veterans Resource Center where all of your questions can be answered under one roof. Everyone that you are working with and the people who are certifying your official documents in terms of the GI Bill, a lot of those members know what it means to serve, so they’re ready to serve the Syracuse University community as well as the student veterans that are coming to the university to obtain a higher education.
